Recursive Exchange is a fanwork exchange for requesting fanfiction and fanart of other fanworks! Recursive fanfiction is frequently called "fic of fic" and (in a fannish context) recursion essentially means treating a fanwork as a canon source material.

Minimums will be 1000 words or a finished piece of drawn art. Original Works stories count as fic for this exchange.

Schedule

• Nominations open: May 9th
• Signups open (noms still open): May 17th
• Signups close: May 26th
• Assignments out: ideally May 29th (no later than May 30th)
• Assignments due: July 3rd
• Work reveals: July 10th
• Creator reveals: July 17th

Closing times are 10pm EDT.

Our feeling about nominating orphaned works: orphaning a fanwork on ao3 is the same as setting it free. So in the absence of a clear "please don't make transformative works for this/I'd rather forget this existed completely" note on the work, we'll allow orphaned works to be nominated for the exchange!
