Sign up on AO3
Nominations will remain open during signups!! We will process nominations at least once a day. If you need something in order to complete your requests or offers, remember to get your nominations in at least 24 hours before signups close. Nominations close on May 25th, and signups close on May 26th.
(countdown to when sign ups close).
Sign-up Minimums
Please note the absolute minimum to sign up is:
- One request of 1 parent fandom with 2 fanworks from different creators, 1 medium, and 1 character category.
- One offer with 1 parent fandom, 1 fanwork, 1 medium, and 1 character category that matches at least a request besides your own.
This means AT MINIMUM, you need to request 2 fanworks that were created by 2 different creators. These two fanworks CAN be in a single fandom. The offer minimum is one offer that matches someone else's request. If you can achieve that with one offer, you're golden!
Signups that don't meet this minimum threshold will be contacted at the end of the signup period, and be given 24 hours to respond to our queries. We will ask people who do not meet the minimum requests to expand their requests to include at least two fanworks by two different authors. For people who do not match to another participant as a creator, we will ask you to expand your offers. After the 24 hour period passes, we will delete signups that do not meet the request/offer minimums.
The flipside to these low minimums is that if you are requesting less than 6 fanwork tags across 3 parent fandoms and your pinch hit is still posted on the day works are due, you will be asked to add additional parent fandoms/fanworks. If you don't want to add additional parent fandoms/fanworks, your pinch hit will stay up, but we won't hold up reveals for you. We will hold reveals until everyone who requests 3+ parent fandoms/6+fanworks has a gift.
There is a fuller explanation of what counts as a full request slate on the rules post, including an exception for Original Works requests.
How to Use Character Categories
For this exchange, we are using a system of seven character categories for matching:
- I want recursive fanwork about the main pairing in this fanwork (shipfic)
- I want recursive fanwork about one or more of the main characters in this fanwork (gen)
- I want recursive fanwork about minor or background ships in this fanwork (shipfic)
- I want recursive fanwork about minor or background characters in this fanwork (gen)
- I want recursive fanwork about non-canon ships in this fanwork (shipfic)
- I want recursive fanwork about one or more non-canon characters in this fanwork (gen)
- I want recursive fanwork about original characters in this fanwork (gen or shipfic)
Most categories specify whether you are asking for gen or shipfic, which will allow you to match on the type of fanwork you'd like to receive! Please note the one exception to this is original character requests, which can be gen or shipfic.
How to use these categories:
Go to Airtable and check what's in the "Main Character(s)/Relationship(s)" column for the fanwork you'd like to request. Depending on what you see in that field, you can choose the following options:
I want recursive fanwork about the main pairing in this fanwork (shipfic)
If there's a / ship in the "Main Character(s)/Relationship(s)" field, then that is the main pairing you would be requesting with the "...the main pairing in this fanwork (shipfic)" tag. If there's only one character named, or if the relationship is a & relationship, and you would like to request shipfic, you will need to use a different character category to request what you want.
I want recursive fanwork about one or more of the main characters in this fanwork (gen)
All characters in the "Main Character(s)/Relationship(s)" field, whether they're in a ship or on their own, are the main characters mentioned in the "...one or more of the main characters in this fanwork" tag.
I want recursive fanwork about minor or background characters in this fanwork (gen)
Any character that is mentioned in the fanwork but is not mentioned in the main relationships/characters field is a minor or background character.
I want recursive fanwork about minor or background ships in this fanwork (shipfic)
Any ship that is mentioned in the fanwork but is not in the main relationships/characters field is a minor or background ship.
I want recursive fanwork about non-canon ships in this fanwork (shipfic)
Any ship involving characters that are not in a ship in the requested fanwork is considered a non-canon ship. The characters should be from the fanwork, unless requested by you/the recip.
I want recursive fanwork about one or more non-canon characters in this fanwork (gen)
Any characters that are in the parent fandom but not in the nominated fanwork are considered a non-canon character. Non-canon characters should be from the parent fandom, unless requested by you/the recip.
I want recursive fanwork about original characters in this fanwork (gen or shipfic)
Original characters refer to all-new characters that your creator makes up. Please do not select this option if you want to request an original character that already exists in the fanwork you are requesting.
Depending on what you would like to request, select the tags that best describe what you're looking for. You can always use your optional details to explain more about what you're requesting, but please be aware that some of these character categories can be a bit broader than others. For example, requesting a non-canon character may end up with a creator who has a different idea about which non-canon character it might be exciting to see in the fanwork you've requested.
Notes on special cases that may show up in the main character category:
Multiple Main Pairings. Some works have more than one / ship tagged in the main character(s)/main relationship(s) column on Airtable. If you select the "main pairing in this fanwork (shipfic)" freeform you could get any of these pairings. You cannot use your DNWs to restrict any of these pairings.
Worldbuilding. Some works have "Worldbuilding" listed as the main character. If you select a work that has Worldbuilding listed as a character, you may receive or request worldbuilding by:
- selecting the "one or more of the main characters in this fanwork (gen)" tag
- selecting the "original characters in this fanwork (gen or shipfic)" tag
If you are interested in receiving romance/smut/ship-focused work for a fanwork that only has Worldbuilding listed:
- selecting the "minor or background ships" tag will work if there are romantic/sexual ships in the requested fanwork
- selecting the "non-canon ship" tag will work if there are no romantic/sexual ships in the requested fanwork, or if you want a ship, but not the one(s) mentioned in the fanwork.
If you are interested in receiving a character-focused work or a work centered around a platonic relationship:
- select the "minor or background characters" tag the character(s) you want a recursive work about are in the requested fanwork.
- select the "one or more non-canon characters" tag if one or more of the characters you want a recursive work about are from the parent fandom but are not mentioned in the requested fanwork.
Ensemble. Some works have "ensemble" listed as the main character. If you select a work that has this listed as a character, you may receive or request works that features a broad range of outcomes.
- "Main pairing (shipfic)" can mean any ships tagged on any of the work(s). This is more commonly seen in fic series with multiple tagged pairings.
- "One or more main characters (gen)" can mean anyone who is in the ensemble. The "ensemble" consists of any tagged characters on the work. If this is a fic series, be aware that this can cover any tagged character from any of the works in the fic series.
- "Minor or background characters" can mean anyone who appears in the work who isn't tagged on the work.
- There is a lot open to interpretation with this tag, so please be willing to be accommodating to your creator/recipient, be open to explaining what you're interested in your optional details, and please feel free to send us a question if you are unsure of anything!
If you have any questions about signups or how to use the character categories, please feel free to ask them here!

Date: 2022-05-18 03:58 am (UTC)Also I think "Batman - All Media Types" and "DCU" should be combined since both are tagged with BAMT and it makes it easier on the people selecting these options if they're together as they fall under the same umbrella fandom

Date: 2022-05-18 04:09 am (UTC)Batman - All Media Types and DCU will stay separate.
Edit: The second Harry Potter tag has been removed, and all HP works should now be under "Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling" (with spaces after each period).
